The Elephant’s Secret Garden

Barnaby found the tiniest seed he had ever seen. He tucked it under the soft earth and brought one careful trunkful of water every morning.

His friends wanted a flower immediately, but Barnaby said, “Some beautiful things need time.” Soon a curl of green lifted toward the sun.

By the end of the week, a wide golden flower had opened. There was room in its shade for every friend, and Barnaby knew that patience had grown more than a garden.
